You Belong Here
A guide for those finding their way into the life of St. John's
Getting Started
From Visitor to Member
We're so glad you've been visiting — and we don't want you to feel like a stranger for long. Whether you've attended once or a dozen times, this page is your guide to taking the next steps at St. John's.
There's no single path or timetable. Some people worship with us for months before they feel ready to get more involved. Others dive in right away. What matters is that you feel welcomed and at home, at whatever pace is right for you.

Your Next Steps
There's no pressure — but here are some natural ways to go deeper.
Say Hello
Introduce yourself to an usher, the Rector, or any member after the service. A brief conversation goes a long way — and so does Coffee Hour.

Become a Member
Formal membership means making St. John's your spiritual home — registering with the parish and, when ready, receiving Confirmation or transferring your letter.
Formal Membership
Baptism, Confirmation, & Reception
In the Episcopal Church, formal membership typically involves one of three sacramental rites, celebrated by the Bishop at a special service:
Baptism
For those who have not yet been baptized. Baptism is the foundation of Christian life and the entry point into the Church. We baptize at all ages, from infants to adults.
Confirmation
For baptized Christians who wish to affirm their faith and be received into the Episcopal Church. Confirmation preparation typically includes a series of classes with the Rector.
Reception
For those already confirmed in another Christian tradition who wish to formally transfer their membership to the Episcopal Church.
Reaffirmation
For Episcopalians returning to active practice after a period away. Reaffirmation is a public renewal of baptismal promises at a service with the Bishop.
